Walks of BudapestPrivate tours, led by locals

If walking is the problem

Every tour we run is private, so the route is planned around you rather than the other way round. There is no fixed departure to catch, no group to keep up with, and the pace is whatever yours is.

What Budapest makes hard, and we are not going to pretend otherwise

The Castle District is on a hill and it is cobbled.
You can drive up, and there are flat stretches at the top, but cobbles are cobbles. In a manual chair it is hard work; in a powered one it is manageable.
Some of the famous places are reached by stairs.
Where there is no step-free way in, we tell you before you book rather than at the door.
The metro is not uniform.
Line M4 is step-free end to end. Line M1, which dates from 1896, largely is not. If public transport is part of the day we plan it knowing that.
The Pest embankment is the flattest ground in the city.
If a comfortable day matters more than getting up to the castle, there is a whole tour to be had down by the river.

What we do

A step-free route when you ask for one.
Designed beforehand, not improvised on the day.
A companion is never counted.
Not in the price, and not against the eight-person limit.
15% off the group price.
Asked for at booking and taken on your word. We do not ask for documents.
Stops and rests wherever they are needed.
A four-hour tour can be four hours with three coffees in it. It is still the same tour.

What we need to know

Tell us in your own words rather than ticking a box. "One manual wheelchair and someone who cannot manage long flights of stairs" is a different day from "we tire easily", and a yes/no field plans neither of them.

And this website

The European Accessibility Act has applied to e-commerce since 2025-06-28. A microenterprise — fewer than ten people and under two million euros — is exempt from its requirements for services, and we are two people: we are exempt. We build the site to WCAG 2.1 AA anyway and audit it on every change. We say we are relying on the exemption rather than implying a compliance nobody is holding us to: if something here does not work for you, that is our bug and we want to hear about it.

Ask before you book

If you are not sure whether something is possible, write to us and we will tell you honestly, including when the answer is no. We would rather lose the booking than have you arrive at the meeting point and find a staircase.

Don't miss a thing

Every so often: new tours, what is on in Budapest around then, and the occasional seasonal offer. Nothing else.

We will send one email to confirm. Without that click we never write again. How we handle your data.
