Why it's worth going
Children love it, and it is a more intimate setting than the big light parks: an old garden of mature trees and glasshouses, lit for the season.
What to expect
It is open from 17:00 to 20:00 Sunday to Thursday and from 17:00 to 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Book a time slot online. The garden is a short walk from Klinikák station on the M3 metro.
Garden of Lights turns the ELTE Botanical Garden in the eighth district into an after-dark trail. This year's theme is Beauty and the Beast: the route across the three-hectare garden passes Belle's farm, the Beast's castle, a light tunnel, a light waterfall and a field of enchanted roses. Entry is by timed ticket. It runs from 23 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, evenings only, and is closed on 23 and 24 December.
